The History Of The Academy

Middleburg Academy was founded as Notre Dame Academy by the Sisters of Notre Dame in 1965. Intially a Catholic girls boarding school, in 1990, it became a co-educational day school. In 2000, the school was purchased by an independent Board of Trustees and in 2009 became a fully independent nonsectarian school. The school continues to benefit from the long standing faith tradition on which it was founded.

Elizabeth Manley Murray was appointed Head of School in January 2009. The school's name officially changed to Middleburg Academy on July 1, 2010
